2005 was a breakthrough for my business. That was the year I decided to become a full-time entrepreneur. I started with the little knowledge I had from my dad, who was an entrepreneur and owned his own business for over 20 years. After I had completed two career cycles (one in Lebanon and one in Canada), I decided it was time for me to leave the corporate world and focus more on fulfilling the dream of establishing my own business.
I started by going back to college, where I completed an Honours Diploma in Business Administration and Accounting. That was an outstanding preparatory arena for what was to come. In 2007, I acquired my Microsoft certification as a trainer, and I started teaching evening courses in business applications. During the day, I focused on starting my own business.
This business growth intelligence platform is the result of years of establishing, learning, and practicing the business concepts I have acquired and taught over the past 40 years. It is also driven by my decision to terminate the community function of organizing networking events through the Ontario Small Business Network (OSBN) to focus more on contributing to business communities by consolidating my business experience on one platform.
I founded the Ontario Small Business Network (OSBN) in 2010 as a social media platform for small business owners, startups, and entrepreneurs, and by 2013, the database was growing rapidly, reaching over 900 small businesses in the Halton and Peel regions of Ontario. As a result of that growth, I decided to start networking events and focused on areas like Mississauga, Brampton, Milton and Oakville. I facilitated these networking events with 50 to 70 attendees at each event until the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At that point I decided to stop these events that ran under the OSBN umbrella, and start bizreflections.ca instead.
As you browse through BizReflections articles, remember that perseverance is a key ingredient to a successful business project.
